explain it briefly.

Answer:

I would like to talk about the date of the 2nd September 1945. It is special because on this day, Vietnam declared to the world that it was free from over a hundred years of being controlled by the French and Japanese people.

In the morning of the 2nd of September 1945, over a million people gathered in the Ba Dinh square in Hanoi, and listened to the speech of President Ho Chi Minh. In this historical speech, on behalf of all Vietnamese people, he told the world that after a hundred years of slavery, Vietnam was finally an independent country with the name of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. He also promised Vietnamese people that the Communist government would try their best so that every people would have food to eat, clothing to wear and children would be able to go to school.

My grandfather was lucky enough to be present at the square on that day and he still talks about it today. He has told me many times that it was the most memorable moment in his life, when he knew that he was a free people of an independent country. Millions of people had shed their blood in order to realize the dream of freedom and that was the moment their sacrifice made it real. My grandfather, along with thousands of people there, cried the tears of happiness. They hoped that there was brighter future waiting for them.

Vietnam still celebrates the National Independence Day every year. Whenever September comes, the whole country is decorated in joyous colors, and firework displays and musical shows are organized in big cities on the 2nd of September. Various TV channels broadcast documentations about the Independence Day, especially the Declaration of Independence that President Ho Chi Minh read that day so that the young will have a better understanding of the most special date in the history of the country.
